In-home Lifestyle Session
Megan Owens Photography| Idaho Falls Photographer
I have done well over 100 shoots this year. I have been able to photograph some really amazing things! Out of all of the pictures I have taken, though, the ones from this in-home lifestyle session are hands down my all-time faves. Not only are they of my cute boys, but they are of my cute boys being themselves.
I saw a session like this on another photographer’s website and wanted to give it a try. The idea behind these in-home lifestyle shoots is to catch everyday moments for this phase of your family’s lives. This phase for my boys looks like a lot of thumb sucking, strawberry milk drinking, blueberry eating, show watching, and playing. So I set out to capture just that. And I couldn’t be happier with how they turned out! I always want to remember the little details about these special times in our lives.
Are you interested in an in-home lifestyle session? I want to tell you how to prepare for one of these shoots so that you can be as happy about your photos as I am about mine. Here are some tips and tricks to get those perfect pictures!
Make a list of activities your kids like to do. Add to that list things you guys like to do as a family. This can include going on a walk, playing in the backyard, coloring, baking cookies, and other similar activities. Plan a fun thirty minutes where you can incorporate few of these activities into our shoot. For the other thirty minutes, we will just let the kids be themselves. Let them play, read stories, or lounge around. My job is to catch those perfect little moments that we get to see everyday, but might soon forget as our kids grow older.
Wear regular clothes. Don’t feel like you need to dress up for a lifestyle session. Let your kids wear their favorite outfits and let them know they are in for a fun afternoon!
Don’t feel the need to rush your family from one activity to the next. The in-between moments are some of the very best!
Just be yourselves! Let the personalities shine through. If you have a shy child, don’t feel the need to push them out of their box. If you have an energetic child, don’t worry about them bouncing around the house for our session.
Try to hang out in a room with a lot of natural light. We will most likely end up shutting off the lights and opening up all of the blinds so we can avoid harsh shadows and strange color castings.
I can’t wait to perfectly capture your family! Thank you for letting me into your house and photographing your beautiful, every-day moments.
