Preparing For Your Session
Megan Owens| Idaho Falls Photographer
Preparing for your session can be a tricky thing! Coordinating outfits, getting everybody ready, and making sure not to forget anything can sometimes seem like an overwhelming task. This blog post will help you know what to bring along with you to help things run smoothly and give you those dreamy photos you have wanted for so long!
For Families
Make sure everyone is dressed and has all necessary clothing items and accessories (hair bows, neck bows, etc.) before leaving the house. Often times, it seems easier to get the kids dressed in the car at the location so they don’t get their outfits dirty. I have noticed that many times, its easy for things to be left behind when kids aren’t completely ready when they walk out the door. If you would prefer to get your family ready at the location, it might be a good idea to make a list of everything you need for each person’s outfit. Double check your list before you leave the house!
A reward for the kids. For some reason, kids will smile 100% better if they know they will get rewarded for it! Fruit snacks or suckers always seem to do the trick. Let your kids know that they will get a treat if they smile for the camera!
A blanket, if desired. I love to get at least one great picture of families sitting down. It is always so cute when families bring along a blanket that matches their outfits. If you don’t have one, though, don’t feel like you need to go out and buy one. I have a nice cream one we can use or you can just sit on the grass.
For Couples
A change in outfits. If you are getting you engagement photos, it is a good idea to bring a set of clothes to change into so that you can have a variety of outfits for your pictures. If you are taking pictures in your formal attire, you might want to bring a change of clothes for the car ride home.
A bouquet. A bouquet adds soo much to formal pictures!! Often times, brides will buy fake flowers or a smaller bouquet for formal photos. It is totally worth the investment! It adds the perfect pop of color to the pictures, and will help bring out your wedding colors in the printed images that you display at your reception.
Lip gloss. You can’t go wrong with extra lip gloss before pictures!
