It’s December! There are so many things that I love about December in Idaho- Christmas tree hunting, snowboarding, sledding with my boys, and celebrating Christmas with the people I love most. I wanted to share some of my very favorite Christmas traditions with you guys today!
Most years, we go hunting for a Christmas tree in the woods. We usually end up cutting one down up in Swan Valley. This year was no exception. We saw an awesome tree up in the middle of a tall hill up past Fall Creek, so we hiked up there with my boys and my brother to cut it down. Robbie ended up (accidentally) sliding down the hill with our tree, and Will and I slid down on our bums. We did a little sledding with the cousins up there as well. Robbie got the tree back to the car and realized that we forgot to bring rope to tie it on to the top of our Traverse. So we ended up using my shoelaces. Robbie made it work! Haha, He is the best.
Another fun tradition that I love is the talent show we have every year on Christmas Eve. It is full of Christmas songs played on all kinds of instruments and the occasional skit making fun of ourselves. We once performed a synchronized swimming act. So you never really know what to expect at the talent show. It’s always so fun and creates some good memories.
If you guys know me, you will know that I am obsessed with food. So it won’t come as a surprise to you that one of my favorite parts of Christmas day is the butterscotch rolls my mom makes every year for breakfast. There is nothing that reminds me of my childhood more than those rolls on Christmas morning. It brings back a flood of awesome Christmas morning memories.
Since Robbie and I have started our own family, we have decided on a few traditions we would like to start ourselves. One very important one being huckleberry sweet rolls on Christmas morning. (Who doesn’t want two fancy types of breakfast rolls on Christmas?) We are starting this year and I am so excited. I found an awesome recipe that we tested out, and it was bomb. It’s just one more awesome reason to look forward to Christmas.
We are so excited for Christmas this year. Our boys can hardly wait! They make the holidays so much fun.
I would love to hear some of your favorite Christmas traditions! We are always looking for new things to add to our list. Please share them down below! Merry Christmas guys, thanks for being here! Love you all!
