Choosing outfits always seems to be the hardest part about family pictures. I have created a list of tips that will hopefully help you out as you choose what to wear for pictures!
Tip 1- Choose a color scheme. With the help of Adobe Color, I created this bomb color scheme chart with some of my favorite color combinations. Try and choose colors and outfits that compliment one another instead of choosing matching outfits. I would recommend avoiding drastic colors like black, white, any any bright colors, like red or yellow. Instead choose their softer versions- navy, cream, maroon, mustard. Picking more neutral colors will help create dreamy skin tones and timeless photos.
Tip 2- Think of your home decor. Where will you be hanging these pictures? Pick a color scheme that will match your decor, so you can hang the pictures up in your house.
Tip 3- Stick to neutral colors. Stick to neutral colors (grey, creme, beige, brown), and then add pops of color here and there. Doing so will help your images appear more light and timeless.
Tip 4- Choose one outfit first. Choosing a bunch of different outfits can seem overwhelming. It is often easiest to choose one outfit first, like mom’s, and then build the rest of the wardrobes around that.
Tip 5- Accessories and textures add a lot. Add necklaces, earrings, bows, ties, and bracelets to wardrobes. This is a great way to incorporate color and tie outfits together. Textures (denim, knit, lace, etc.) also add a lot and create a beautiful feel to an image.
Tip 6- Try and avoid these things- shirts with designs or big logos, bright colors, distracting or busy designs, and small stripes. All of these things can take the focus off of the cute people in the image.
I hope this little guide helps you prepare for your photos! If you have any questions or would like a second opinion, please reach out! I am happy to help in any way that I can.
