One of my favorite segments of Our Savior Photo Series was the photos of Jesus Christ with the elderly. This whole project has been an incredible experience creating, but I feel like these pictures were extra inspired.
Going into this session, I had a very clear image in my head of what I wanted these pictures to show and represent. I wanted both Christ and the models to look happy and proud. I believe the outcome of these photos is similar to the reunion many of our loved ones will have with the Savior. My two favorite pictures from this segment are entitled, “Well Done” and “Thou Good and Faithful Servant”.
I know at times we might not feel proud of all of our decisions. But I was listing to a podcast today that brought up a great point. The podcast was Don’t Miss This, and the two hosts were talking about the story of the centurion and his servant being healed in Matthew 8. The centurion said that he wasn’t worthy of Christ to enter into his home, so instead he requested that Christ heal his servant from where He was. Christ said to the centurion, “I have not found such great faith, no, not in Israel.” He then immediately went on to heal the servant. In this moment, Jesus wasn’t focused on this centurion’s faults. He saw right through the man’s faults and straight into his heart. I think Jesus is the same with us. He doesn’t see us for his faults. He sees us for our hearts.
I hope that when people see these photos, they can remember two things. 1. Jesus sees people for their hearts, and 2. He is so proud and happy to be reunited with the people he gave His life to save.
