What’s Different About the LDS Church?

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is a church centered on Jesus Christ. There are so many churches out there, it’s hard to know what makes each one unique! Here are the top three things (in my opinion) that make the LDS church different than the rest.

1. We believe in living prophets. Just like in the times of the Bible, we believe that it is necessary to have a prophet to guide us in these latter days. We have a living prophet that has been called of God that leads the people of the earth today. His name is Russell M. Nelson. This isn’t to say that we don’t believe in personal revelation, because we do 100%! Receiving personal revelation is actually a big part of what we believe. But we also have a prophet who can receive revelation for the whole church and world. 
2. We believe in The Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon is another sacred record of Christ and his people. It’s similar to the Bible. It takes place on the American Continent from 600 BC-400 AD. This second book testifies of Christ and contains the fullness of the gospel. It teaches us about life after death, the atonement of Jesus Christ, the principles of the gospel, and so much more. 3. We believe that the priesthood of God has been restored to the earth. When Christ was here, he had the power to bless and heal many lives. He passed that power on to his apostles. But when the world entered a period of apostasy, the Lord took that power from the earth. He restored the priesthood power to the earth in the 1800s to a man named Joseph Smith. He was the first prophet of this dispensation. He passed it on to other worthy men, and it has been continually passed on since then. There are many worthy men in the church who have the priesthood today. This direct power from God has the power to heal, guide, and bless us. It is an amazing thing to know that we have the power of God here on the earth with us today!

We believe that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints contains the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
