Investing in Yourself
Being an Idaho Falls photographer is seriously so much fun! Believe it or now, though, I started out my career journey as an online teacher. I got my degree in elementary education. After a few years, I decided I wanted to go back to school and become a nurse. In fact, I took a placement test the night before I got induced with Will at a local college. I was really serious about it! But after I had Will, everything about pursuing photography as a business seemed to fall into place. It has been less than two years, and I never could have imagined the joy that has come from investing in my hobby-turned-business of photography. One of the best pieces of advice I received early on was to invest in myself and my education, and doing so has paid off ten-fold. So guys, investing in yourself is worth it! YOU are worth it! I’m going to tell you some of the things I did that got me to where I am today.
- I invested in many education courses. I bought courses from Amy and Jordan, Kylee Maughan, Katelyn James, and Breanne Weston. Hands down, Amy and Jordan taught me everything I know about photography. The other courses I invested in were later, after I had gotten started, and they all added great knowledge and insights to my business and work as a photographer.
- I invested in nice gear. After things were rolling, I upgraded my camera body to a Nikon D750. I also bought three lenses that I really love. My current favorite is my Tampon 35-150 mm. All of this equipment really helped me up my photography game.
- I invested in one-on-one mentor courses. In fact, my latest one was this last week! It was with Anna from Anna Christine Photography and was so rewarding! She taught me so much and was SO nice! I have already been able to see great and positive changes in my work since our session.
Guys, investing in yourself is worth it. Remember, the money you spend now will generate money in the future. So don’t feel bad about it! You are worth it!!!
