This location was seriously such a dream! It’s called Jewel of the Creek and is about 45 minutes from Mesa. This family was such good sports. They hiked all over with me and we got some great pictures. I love the way these Arizona family photos turned out!
Because I was only in Arizona for two days, I booked all of my sessions back to back. My first couple ended up running late and it pushed the rest of my sessions back. But it all worked out! This family started their session in golden hour and ended it in blue hour. We had to use flashlights by the end of our hike out, haha.
When I got to Jewel of the Creek, I was in total awe of all of the cactuses. I walked up to one so I could study it closely. They aren’t a thing here in Idaho, so it was a very foreign thing to me haha. I know this sounds weird, but I thought it could be cool to touch a thorn to see what it felt like. (Now looking back, I realize how ridiculous that sounds.) I ended up getting stuck by several throughout my sessions and instantly regretted my desire to touch one. Anyways, this family’s little girl was wearing sandals and ended up getting a bunch of little thorns in her feet. I felt so bad! Her daddy ended up carrying her out, and her mom eventually got all of the thorns out with the help of a flashlight. For a twenty minute mini session, it sure was an adventure!
I’m grateful that this cute family took the evening to drive out and get their pictures taken. I am so happy I got to photograph these guys! They are so much fun. I’m ready to plan another trip to Arizona, just to hang out with them!
