I am going to start sharing reviews of my favorite books. Next week, I am going to tell you guys about my favorite book of all time. It is called Kisses from Katie and has seriously changed my life. But I decided before I share that book, I want to share a book that is even more near and dear to my heart.
I realize that religion can sometimes seem like a taboo topic. But it doesn’t seem right to me to share a blog about my life and not share anything about my religious beliefs. Because they define me, guide me, and give me purpose in all that I do. So, with that being said, I’m going to share with you guys a book that really matters to me.
The Book of Mormon is another testimony of Jesus Christ. It works hand-in-hand with the Bible, and the two of them together contain the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. It takes place from about 600 BC to 400 AD here on the American continent. It was written by ancient prophets, like the Bible, and was then hid up in a hill. In 1823, an angel led a boy, Joseph Smith, to the book. With the help of God, he translated it into English. It has since been translated into many other languages.
Here is a list of some of my very favorite things shared in the Book of Mormon.
The apostasy of the Church of Jesus Christ and need for a restoration (Mormon 1:13-14)
The Godhead consists of God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost. They are three different people. (2 Nephi 31:18)
The Plan of Salvation teaches where we came from, our purpose on this earth, and where we go after we die. (2 Nephi 2, Alma 40)
Defines and Explains the power of the atonement (Alma 7)
Explains faith (Alma 32)
Describes the steps of repentance (Alma 34)
Teaches the proper way of baptism (Moroni 8)
Explains the gift of the Holy Ghost (Moroni 10:5)
The power of prayer (Moroni 10:3-5)
Personal revelation (Moroni 10:5)
Modern-day prophets (1 Nephi 22:1-2, Doctrine and Covenants)
Ordinances and covenants (Mosiah 18)
I love the Book of Mormon with my whole heart. In fact, I love it so much that I spent 18 months of my life on a mission teaching people about it. If you have any questions, please let me know! I would love to teach you more. You can also check out cometochirst.org for more information.
